Went here on a recommendation of Brianna W's cousin, Kristen who now resides in SF. Having lived in Chicago for the last 4 years, I have eaten at dozens of hot dog places and like to think I know what I am talking about when it comes to the subject. However, I must make it a point to remind you that these are not Chicago-style hot dogs and nor do they claim to be (see name of the restaurant you big dummy!). I had about 3 of these "Coney-style hot dogs" and must say they were tasty and inexpensive. The place is giving away chili basically! The price of a regular dog is $1.05, the price of a chili dog is, you guessed it, $1.05!!! A double dog with cheese is fricken $1.80!!! The dogs are however you standard size dog (so you might need 3 to fill you) with a steamed bun. Chopped onions, a decent chili, some shredded cheese on top, and mustard round out the toppings on these beauties. The fries were ok I guess, but I was more into the hot dogs. For a place that is giving away chili (those applying for a bathroom attendant job at Coney Island Hot Dogs beware!) and providing snappy service, I most definitely will be returning on my way back into La Crosse.

I was blessed to live in a town that has three Coney Island's. And brothers that have to make a stop here every time they are in town. They also get some to go to take home with them. I'm not a big fan of hot dog since I found out what a hot dog is when I was 15 years old. They have really got fries, which is a total plus. I could do a big plate of fries any day.

Every time I come in to town I make a point to stop here. I love the chili sauce on the dogs, and have yet to see it duplicated anywhere else. I do have to say they have gone a bit downhill in the past couple of years, and I wonder if that has to do with some of the workers I have encountered. They seem completely bored and just don't care for the most part.

I showed up 10 minutes before they closed. I know that's not cool to show up close to closing. However I was traveling from Camp Decorah with my nephew and he was hungry for some hotdogs. So we stopped in for 5 hotdogs and some fries. The man who I'm sure is one of the owners was incredibly rude. He was tossing things around (napkin holder, money, tray) like a child throwing a temper tantrum. The hotdogs tasted fine along with the fries.

The chicken sandwich is made of pressed meat, not an actual piece of chicken.
